Methadone/Buprenorphine Treatment: available

The Lithuanian Ministry of Health has introduced three methadone/buprenorphine programs in the biggest cities of the country – Vilnius, Kaunas, and Klaipeda. Foreign
patients can receive treatment under the same conditions as agreed upon with their home doctor or clinic. Their home prescribers are strongly advised to contact a suitable clinic in Lithuania well in advance of the patient’s prospective date of arrival. They should provide the following information: the patient’s full name and address, address in Lithuania, daily dosages, and the dates of travel, arrival and departure.

Importation of Methadone/Buprenorphine: possible

Patients bringing methadone/buprenorphine into Lithuania for personal use as medication must carry a certificate from their doctor or clinic detailing the total quantity of the medication, daily dosages, the patient’s full name and address, and the dates of travel, arrival and departure. However, a possible change of import regulations is currently under discussion. Therefore, we strongly advise to contact a Lithuanian embassy or consulate well in advance of the intended journey.
