Methadone/Buprenorphine Treatment: available
There are three substitution treatment facilities in Estonia. Foreign methadone and buprenorphine patients will be accepted for temporary treatment, provided their home prescribers contact one of these clinics well in advance of the expected date of their patients’ arrival. Up-to-date information is available via the Central and Eastern European Harm Reduction Network.
Importation of Methadone, Buprenorphine, Codeine, Morphine: possible
It is allowed to bring into Estonia methadone, buprenorphine and other opioids in quantities needed for up to one week’s treatment (seven daily doses) without a permit of the State Agency of Medicines (Ravimiamet). Patients have to carry with them a letter from their prescribing GP or clinic clearly stating the need for the medication.
If the quantity of methadone or other opioids
intented to be brought into Estonia exceeds seven daily doses the prescribing
GPs or clinics must apply for an import
permit at the
State Agency of Medicines (Ravimiamet) on behalf of their patients (see contact details below).
