Methadone Treatment:
not available

Buprenorphine Treatment:
theoretically possible, almost impossible to arrange

Though any medical officer or doctor can prescribe buprenorphine, the question remains whether pharmacies can provide the medication. If buprenorphine is not in stock it must be ordered from abroad.

Importation of Methadone or
other Prescribed Narcotics:
possible

Foreign travellers are allowed to bring into Botswana medically prescribed methadone or buprenorphine for personal use for a duration of three (!) months. A certified copy of the original prescription is required. Maximum quantity allowed is the one supported by the prescription as long as it does not exceed a supply sufficient for 3 months. No import licence is required.
