Opioid Substitution Treatment: not finally clarified

It is not clear whether opioid substitution treatment is provided to foreign travellers for a limited period of time.

Importation of Substances Used in Opioid Substitution Treatment: possible

It is allowed to bring into the Bahamas a maximum quantity of 30 daily doses of methadone or other substances used in opioid substitution treatment for personal use (an extended period may be allowed on case by case basis). Patients must apply for an import licence with the Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry of Health and Wellness (see contact details below). When entering the Bahamas patients must carry with them the chief medical officer’s letter of approval. Applications should be sent in well in advance of an intended journey.
