Provided a foreign methadone patient receives an import license for the quantity of methadone needed for the duration of stay local practitioners would be prepared to continue treatment. For further details we advise to contact a Gambian diplomatic mission or the Gambian Medicine Board well in advance of the expected date of travel.

Importation of Methadone: possible

Foreign travellers must apply for an import license at the Medicine Board of the Gambian Ministry of Health by enclosing a letter from their home prescriber and a prescription. The patient will be sent a license which has to be produced to the customs upon arrival.
