Importation of Methadone/Buprenorphine:
possible

Patients have to apply for an import licence. The Heading of the application should be: Application For Permission To Import Methadone [Buprenorphine] For Personal Use Under Medical Prescription. In addition to providing the home prescriber’s contact details, the name of the medication and the international name of the active substance, the dates of arrival in and departure from Ghana should be stated. A photo copy of the patient’s passport and a copy of the latest medical prescription must be attached. Further, we advise to have the application data confirmed by a local health authority. The application should be sent by email or fax AND by post or by courier.
